White or Blue wire for Kill switch?

My PDF instructions file said to connect the Kill Switch to the white wire. I don't use the engine to power head or tail lights so is this OK? I basically connected the yellow wire from the kill switch to the white wire and the black wire from the switch to the black wire of the CDI.

I connected my yellow wire from the kill switch to the white wire, and black to good ground.....

yes that is correct, but it has been said in other threads that it can be a cause of magneto failure and a lot of people use a switch in the blue wire to kill the signal to the CDI instead of shorting the magneto to earth.
