Whizzer Rides - Stories and Pictures

Nice Tan hand grip leather tassels, that's new (y) How long are those, I got 20"
Thanks... they are excellent quality. They are 16"; better than my Gator grips which have brass eyes int he holes which I don't particularly like. These laced up beautiful. Just need at least one "Eagle" feather to finish it off. Not cheap... $30 on Etsy.

Noticed the flange on my carb was warped, Resurfacing was needed
This carb is probably 15 years old at least, I guess over the years the flange slowly warped
I don't over tighten the mounting nuts, Over time the flange will just warp on it's own

I figure
1) The fact the carb has an O ring that needs to be lightly compressed
2) The fact that the intake gasket is rubber fiber material that will also compress
3) The fact that heat transfers thru the mounting studs and the wings of the flange get hot
4) The fact that the center of the flange stays cool because air and gas are always passing thru,
This all causes the flange to slowly warp, then it isn't making 100% seal

Resurfacing didn't take long rubbing the flange surface on 220 grit sandpaper/plate glass
Then a good cleaning with carb cleaner to spray out any aluminum dust

For a 15 yr old Taiwan knock off Kie Hin it still works good

Looks good. How did you first notice it was warped? Considering it did not take much resurfacing...

I could see it. and the carb seemed to be running rough
After I resurfaced the flange it was obvious the insulation plate was warped too.
I checked the aluminum spacer it's flat, I had a new insulation plate, so I used that with a new intake gasket

Actually I knew it was warping, I've been watching it for years, Finally I figured I should do something about it
