What are your thoughts on using this carb to replace the stock one.

Thats a 49cc air cooled carb. Not directly compatable, you would have to adapt the intake runner to match the flange fitting on the carb.

Easy enough, but would there be any advantages? This carb looks more complex than the stock ones, i.e. whats that plastic handle for?

Yeah they are nice little carbs, much more tunable, you can tune the mixture with a little screw on the outside. Much better than having four settings that you have to take the carb apart to get to. Its a dellorto clone so is pretty well made. That plastic handle is actually a fuel tap, also these carbs have an overflow tube on the float bowl so if the carb is flooded then the fuel will come out a little hose on to the floor.

You would need to machine an intake manifold though to get it to work though. There are other carbs available that slide on to the original intake manifold, a few people have done it on here.
