Both kits recently showed up on CMB with little or no explanation. The "Shadow 85" looks to me to just be a Phantom 85 by another name, as it looks exactly like a Phantom 85. The "Malice 85" looks to me to be the Phantom, but with a removable head. Not sure about this, all just guesses on my part as I could find nothing anywhere, even forums, except from the CMB site.

Does anyone actually know any specifics?

Yes, CMB was selling them as the "phantom 85 V3" and "phantom 85 v4" however they do not have rights to the phantom 85 name and the V4 doesn't exist. They were sent a cease and desist order over the phantom 85 name and had to change it

I reported on this not too long ago here in our forum on Aug. 12th 2024 when Zane was caught red handed using someone elses trademark, copyright, and patent rights on the Phantom 85 which are exclusive to bicycle-engines.com who designed, produced, and own all rights to the P-85.

What does WTF stand for?

Well it could be intentional and fraudulent, but it also could just be a mistake, not thinking it through.

Think about it, if the engine is all the same parts, he might have just not even thought about the name being copywritten, and just listed it as Phantom cuz the parts are the same.

Not saying this was for sure a mistake or oversight, but you sure are quick to condemn the guy for what could have been just a faux pas.

It really may not be as shady and intentional as you're assuming.

At best it's sloppy and inconsiderate. I just would have to know more to see it as intentional fraud, knowingly committed, and feel certain of it.

Not quick at all...He has a history of hucksterism that I have called him out on each and everytime right here in the forums with many people attesting to it as well.

I used to give him the benefit of the doubt...NO LONGER

Look it up, its in here.
