bad cdi

My cdi is not working. I know I can order another from the internet but can I pick one up at a local shop? Can I get one from a local honda shop or are these special for the HT? Sorry not to bright with the electrical stuff.
any help would be great. Just want to ride my bike without waiting for something to come in the mail.

You pretty much have to order an exact replacement. I haven't heard of a "drop in" replacement from another manufacturer like Honda, 'suki, etc.

Parts are pretty cheap, so you might want to order a stator coil just in case the CDI is good, but the stator is bad.

kind of a drag having to order and wait on the mail

good news is -- there are more and more small dealers of built HT motor bikes
we just got another one down the road
super cool dude -- carries most all needed parts
he sold my buddy a brand new carb for his HT -- price 15 dollars -- don't seem bad
especially when we need one

makes it best when we ride that thing with gas and fire

funny you should bring this up....ive had two bunk CDI's of the last four kits, and have heard of a butt-load of others with the same problem. seems to me this is a more prevalent issue than before.
