Pull Start Broken pull start

That square metal box-shaped item between the pull starter and the engine is the electric starter, as I look at the picture you posted. It should be magnetized. A steel bolt should stick to it. There should be a thick wire coming out of it or it looks as if a cap is covering the hole - can't determine from the photo. Did you buy the engine new or from someone else? It's possible if you bought used that the starter went out and the previous owner cut the wire and placed a plug in the hole. You can still start the engines with the pull starter if the electric starter goes South.

I could be wrong, but it looks like you have an electric starter from what I see.

good that you got it running. Did you know that it also charges? From what I've been able to find on the Internet, the stators charge at 3 - 4 amps. It will be about 12+ volts A/C - not D/C. A/C ok for lights, but not if you want to charge your battery. You'll need a regulator/rectifier to change to D/C and to stabilize the A/C voltage to use with lights. The regulator/rectifier will need to be mounted to bare metal and will get hot, so airflow is important.

*DO NOT KEEP THE BATTERY HOOKED TO THE STARTER/STATOR WITHOUT THE STARTER SOLENOID AND REGULATOR/RECTIFIER OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BATTERY OR YOURSELF* A/C VOLTAGE AND DC BATTERIES DO NOT GO WELL TOGETHER!

To use it as a starter, I would seriously recommend a starter solenoid. Don't wire a switch directly from the battery to the starter or you'll burn the switch out - it can't handle the amperage. You can buy a a 4 post scooter solenoid on Ebay for under $10.00 or buy one at O'Reilly's Auto Parts for around $13.00. They are in the 2 stroke section. You can also buy a regulator on Ebay for under $10.00. Buy a 4 pin for the Gy6 scooters. It won't have a pigtail connector. You can buy a scooter ignition on/off keyswitch for under $10.00 on Ebay. Buy a 4 wire keyswitch. With the ignition switch, you'll be able to turn the switch off and it will stop the engine. Use an inline fuse to connect to the battery as shown in the starter diagram below. I think my automotive push button switch costs $4.99 at Napa. Again, you need a switch to handle the amperage.

I've included a wiring diagram for the regulator/rectifier and how to hook everything up.

I would recommend the starter setup and charge battery first then try the system to run some very low powered lights. I don't think the system will handle both. Usually you have two wires from the starter/stator - one for the lights and the other to charge, but since the system only develops 3-4 amps, I think only one wire was included.

thanks alot chris im goin to run it wit just the push button i have it all wired up just had to charge the battery to test it... i had a few solenoids left over from a hydraulic trike.

Thats the same motor monster sells for 125$, you need to treat those pull starts with kid gloves and not rip on them just be firm but gentle.
