    Hello All,

I have searched and searched and searched the internet, and three local bike shops and I can not seem to find a solid rear axle that is longer then 187mm that is 10mm thick x 26tpi

Anyone know where I can find one?

Ideally, I would love to find one about 200mm or so...

Well you could go down to your local hardware store and get ISO 10 by .1 mm threaded stock. Buy about a foot and cut it to size. I would recommend going with hardened (grade 8) or better stock.

Before you cut it thread a couple of nuts on up to the point you will need to cut and also a few inches down so they will both be firmly clamped in the vice. You may need to double nut it so it won't rotate. Then measure and cut the axel with the extra bit hanging over the lip of the nut clamped in the vice (I would say about 2mm). first file it flat then back off the nut and file a bevel around the end of the axel.

Now when you twist the nut off the cut end you will be cleaning up the thread. you might need to have a very small file to further clean up the tread.

now after all of that, Is this really something you want to do? P.S. chances are that the stock will bend because your putting a lot of pressure a long way out. Thats why they did not make freewheels over seven speed(135mm).

I doubt it how will he screw the 26tpi cone nuts onto a .1mm pitch thread, drilling the cone nut isn't really option its hardened steel.

"Wheres my dog" is in the GEBE-situation of needing a longer axle to be able to get nuts on the ends after adding the mounting strap, he's not looking to span wider dropouts or anything.

i've never had to do this with any of my installs, and don't have a bit of experience with finding suitable replacements...all i do know is if the longer-axle Golden Eagle offers doesn't do it, then i don't know anything to tell him that will help. i also know the answers are already here somewhere but i can't find 'em.

Yes and look on craigslist. You may have to buy the whole rear wheel.
