My thoughts on Board Trackers

While I am not fond of the old world styling there are so many custom frames and interesting builds. A treasure trove of creativity and ingenuity in fabrication. My biggest problem with most of the board trackers is that safety and utility are second to styling. Front brakes are rare and woefully undersized when present. Springer seats hard as a board that need way too much force to compress, not to mention the springer forks.

I like the truly naked frames though. Nothing is hidden away.

When ya wanna win a race comfort is second and most BTRs didn't even have brakes

But I'm sure you could build a BTR style bike that's comfortable and safe

Do you mean actually board track bikes or replicas?

The easiest way to go faster is to reduce unsprung weight, and brakes just slow you down in two ways.

No no, everybody knows you just fall off to stop.

#1- friction slows you down
#2- extra weight slows you down.

You tube has some great shorts on the history of board track racing in America. A few weeks back I spent a rainy afternoon watching some of them.
Crazy stuff, 100 mph on an old bike with old tires. Fall off you die.
