Taking a welding class, what should I make for my project?

So, I'm taking a welding class, and we get to choose projects to do, we get free shop time while in the class, and can use the shop for a fee afterwards, so it could be pretty ambitious.

Personally I'd like to make something with a motor. I'm thinking maby a micro car or a moped. I'd probably use either the 80cc or the 200cc harbor freight engines. What I don't know is how much all the other stuff is going to cost. What transmission works well with the 200cc? Also what would be a cheap set of wheels to put on it? I was thinking BMX wheels, but those aren't DOT Certified.

Found this site. I'm thinking the vigilante chopper would be a good starting place to get plans from, and then just weld in a mounting plate for the 80cc HF engine.

I nearly bought it, it looks like alot of fun.
