Throttle cable?

I had the cable attached to the twist throttle and the other end was right at the tip of the outer housing.
This sounds like a poor connection to the throttle grip, there's no way a throttle could eat up more than 20-25mm of cable in the fully closed position.

I simply had the cable connected to the twist throttle. It wasn't turned or anything. This is my first rodeo at this so I might be doing something wrong.

If you have any issues with setting something up, just take a couple if pictures and post them here. There is someone here that has done it before and get you on the right track.

Will do! I'm presently trying to figure out my sprocket. I want to attach it to the brake hub somehow.

Okay. This is what I'm trying to do as far as my sprocket. I would like to have a hole made into the black metal plate and have it welded onto the brake hub. Then have three holes drilled into the plate to bolt the sprocket to it. Then screw the brake hub back onto the axle and have it tack welded so it won't be able to back off. Can't find anyone to see my vision.

Use a piece of 3/16" flat plate steel to make a sprocket adapter bolt plate/pattern. Have the center hole of flat plate just clear the hub diameter. Then have 3 bolts bolting to the sprocket to the flat plate, then drill another 3 holes thru the drum brake hub that bolts to flat plate & brake hub. Then use washers or spacers to space your sprocket in or out from the flat plate.
