:DHi room,

I'm riding a 26" MTB with 48cc skyhawk. Just curious about putting some Townie Semi-Slick tires on it. Are they good tires? Would it help speed wize?

TY, Glen

The slicker the better, all other things (rubber composition, tire pressure, road surface) considered. Slick tires put more rubber in contact with the street, which helps the grip under all conditions except (possibly) wet snow. Including railroad tracks, oil slicks, wet roads, etc.

Appreciate Lou,

These Townie semi slick tires are rated at 65PSI. The old MTB tires where only rated at 45PSI........So, we'll see. I just hope that they last awhile, because it will be used only on pavement.

my old an new bikes both ran semi slicks or townies ...
now im using 2 slick 1.90 :26 inch plus 2 thorn resistant inners no liner (yet)

since changing to full slick for pave or rd i get great grip an stable 55 kph ..
the thorn resist tubes to be sure

my exhaust is a long street has only lost 5 kph at top but gained more low an mid speed .

Yes, same here Brad. See, I'm just running a 48cc, but the semi townies are doing great job. Just wonder what air pressure I should use. Max says 65PSI, so I run right about 45PSI. It's 26", and I weigh 250lbs...............but when tires with me are on the road, they are very firm, and look like they have plenty of air in them.

Thanks............Glen

cool my fronts are 45 psi
the rears 55 psi
if im headin for lawn or gravel then both down to 35
i allways carry a mini hand pump an pressure gauge plus a bum bag with allen an socket an a leatherman with 1.8 th driver .
