Central Pa. Rally

What's the fastest anybody has gotten a whizzer going? Between 12-23 my bike pulls real hard, like a dirt bike but then dies off at about 25-28... Hope I can make it this year... I'll be writting Professor about it as the time nears!

Hi machiasmort,

70 MPH on several dyno runs. 68 MPH on the "Roller Road" [MPH dyno, Portland, IN 2005]. 66 MPH on the street checked with GPS & digitial speedometer.

My 1950 Sportsman managed to travel 150 feet [dirt drags] maxing out at 40.3 MPH @ 8220 RPMs [not bad for a flathead], and easily bested some wild OHV Whizzers.

I currently hold all the speed records except for one, Bonneville "twin vintage Whizzer powered". A friend of mine, Roger Brophy holds that record.

I hope to run my twin Whizzer powered bike at Bonneville in the future, but will be using 2 new edition SE motors. The 2 engine Whizzer was built by Ron Dow [Texas] and donated to me by Terry McAllister [recently left us for a better place].

The twin powered bike managed a little over 60 MPH on one motor.

Have fun,

Mort, I have had my Whizzer (which has a mildly massaged engine) up to 42 miles per hour on flat ground with my overstuffed carcass on board. My engine only had a few mods done to it; a shaved head (milled 70-thousandths) with the copper head gasket, lightened mushroom lifters and the restrictor plate opened up. Also, the hi-flo muffler insert (sadly no longer made) upped the performance slightly.

I'm interested it coming to this one, it's only around 700 miles away from Atlanta so it's feasible to get too, depends on work though.

We had 16 bikes here last year. I live in the middle of Amish country so we will be passing Amish buggys all day. People from other parts of the country love it. Don't forget that there's free camping at my place.
