overheating won't hurt the ignition - follow steps on the board to find where your spark went

Is it a black engine with alloy intake? Did you buy it from eBay? If so a few others have had faulty cdi's with these kits , open the magneto cover and see if the black wire is soldered or held on by one of the bolts could be a bad connection if it's bolted

It is a black engine from amazon, i only bought the engine because I already had the rest of a kit from a 49cc build. The black wire is held by the top left bolt. Would moving it to a different bolt affect it, or should it be soldered?

With a bit of sandpaper, clean up the connector and where it sits.
Remount the connector and see if you have spark now.
