I ride a 34"/27" Schwinn LeTour and Have a Huffy as a back-up.
I bought them for $40 and $30 respectively and brought them back to being road worthy.
I have a friend that has an expensive mountain bike with 29" knobbies.
He wants to go hybrid/motorized for long trips.
I'm here so I might be able to understand him...
