new to motorized biking

That's the smartest decision you have made.
When i motorized my first bicycle, it took me less than 10 seconds to realise that rim brakes were a suicidal proposition.

Even so, the best mechanical caliper (Avid BB7) and largest disk rotor on the market (9 inch Hayes V9) is barely adequate for effective stopping in some situations. Rim brakes under such conditions would be lethal.

Rim brakes suck.. especially in the wet.. Ditch all rim brakes!

Have you tried Hydraulic discs?

they look nice...finished up tonight finally...new handle bars..check, new brake, throttle cables, stop switch wiring..check...new exhaust pipe installed and heat wrapped ..check....now just need time to ride!

I think I will be needing disc brakes some time in the near future.
