I was in the middle of moving out of the L.A. area late last January when I found out that some scum burglarized my storage unit I was renting at the time. I'm just now getting a chance to post, life has been hectic to say the least.
They stole four of my bikes. They left the orange Sting-Ray I've had since I was 15 and my Whizzer since they couldn't fit it through the opening in the drywall they cut. They didn't take my sister's old Lil-Chick I'm guessing since girls bikes don't have as much value.
The bikes that were stolen were my Lemon Peeler, Straight bar typhoon, green Black Friday bike and my girlfriend's black, Black Friday bike. All these bikes had springers and working head & tail lights. All were rideable.
The employess at Public Storage refused to acknowledge it as a burglary and kept calling the incident "drywall damage". As a matter of fact,the neighboring unit to mine was broken into as well and the burglars cut a hole in the cheap drywall to get into mine. The property manager waited almost a week to inform me! No working cameras of course, lights aroundunit were not working,and the property manager lived on site!
The property manager actually went out of her way to NOT HELP my by calling the police on me after I started taking pictures of what happened! She lied to dispatchers and officers and told them I threatend them!
I'll most likely never see them again, however if anything positive did come out of this is a lesson learned not use storage facilities that use cheap DRYWALL to divide the units, and pay the extra money to find a unit that uses corrugated metal to divide the units and has better property management!
