Sun EZ Sport CX (24 speed) w/RS 35cc

I was looking in Craigslist, found a Sun recumbent priced at $300,

Easy Racers/Sun EZ1 Super Cruiser. Nice little bike. Upgraded, tuned up, repairs made, well cared for.

Looks like this:

but no fenders.

When you price the individual pieces, my bike guy tells me the front sprocket is nearly $40, the seat is over $100.

There probably are bargain basement prices like this one that pop up all the time, and anything under $300 oughta be grabbed up, just to strip for parts.

The puzzle has been how to carry the same amount of camping gear on the recumbent, minus the large basket and backpack I could carry on Rocinante.

Last October I swapped for a pup tent, which tucks behind the seat. Inside the recumbent's frame, I'm thinking LO-tech, using small blue tarps to roll up pants and shirts in slender "bedrolls", which could be tied up midframe, out of the way of pedals and chain.

Monday I got the new pup tent up, sprayed a can of silicone on the fly tarp. 16 pegs means bring along a mini-mallet, I never used pegs with my dome tent....

The "trapper keeper" I zip-tied together over the weekend, attached to the handlebars, will carry my basketball warmups, fleece hoodie, sweatshirt, as I peel off layers while the thermometer rises thru the day.

It looks like the small basket I put up front will carry my air mattress and the fleece blankets. I have a third piece of that black shelving, it could be zip tied to the top of the basket, a flat surface to bungie a light-weight camping supply of some sort.

I thought I could find adjustable hose-type straps 21"-24" inches long, that would be ideal for securing two coffee cans under my seat.

I freed up one of the saddlebags, decided the black insulated diaper bag, picked up for $1 at a Goodwill, with its 6 separate pouches and zipped spots, can carry "everything bicycle", spare gas, tubes, air, zip-ties etc.

Which makes the saddlebags free up for "everything clothes" and the front basket "everything camp".

The second day on the road, I'm sure everything will get muddled up, so I'll be right back to repacking EVERYthing everyday.

Now that the plan is starting to take shape, I'll get a route up in the travel section.
