Yea I hear you on that complicated belt drive etc, I just liked his exhaust and it was the quietest one I found when I was looking before. He made that from an aluminum water bottle I think and an old lawn chair frame for tubing. He says what it is somewhere in the first video.
I've seen other quiet ones built from things like empty fire extinguishers and plumbing fittings and pipe too, they're already threaded on top and you can find plumbing fittings to just screw on to them, and solder it up with a propane torch and plumbing solder. But that's going to add a bit of weight to your bike compared to aluminum.
