Metallurgy of the 66cc 44 tooth sprocket?

It scratches with a file, it isn't hardened. It holds a magnet, it isn't stainless. You are good to go!
Just remember that the cutting speed for a HSS Dremel cutter is the same as a drill bit, so for a 1/4" HSS cutter it is about 1500rpm on steel. I don't think your Dremel goes that slow.

Thanks a lot! I suppose I'll drill what I need and then try to finish the shape with a stone bit, my dremel has 10 different speeds and can go very slow, but it has no torque. It wouldn't do anything at 1,500 rpm. If my drill press works, pics should come in a day or two showing what I'm trying to do.
