I'm curious too. Why would you want to do this to a perfectly good one piece cylinder?

Theoretically you could buck the top off with a sawzall and use a T square and a file to square it up followed with sand paper to finish. Or as you suggest a mill bit in a drill press on a sliding table for a make shift milling machine.

Aliexpress probably has what you are looking for relatively cheap.

Sounds like a make work project to me. I thought you had a world of things on the go?

It's just an idea. I want to make a mild saw build that is basically a phantom, and I just wanted to see if I could convert it to 2 piece just for fun. I do have alot going on rn, this is just for future reference.

Cut with an extremely thin band saw, followed by milling the surface of the cylinder within a thousandth of an inch, follow all of that by decking the cylinder and a new head.

I would take a cast of the compression chamber before I cut anything, just to see the squish band.
