There's nothing wrong with the school of hard knocks, I went there a few times myself. Ha ha, I did learn!

I say put it back together, give yourself a good 25:1 fuel/oil mix and send it, you aren't going to hurt it any worse.

I'm thinking a stretched pit bike with scrambler styling. I would just stretch it out by the steer tube (some struts from the cradle for stability) and adjust the angle to get a trail and wheel base I like.
