We owed no fed tax due to being retired an on SS, standard deduction of 29,200 brought our AGI way down. The state is where we won this year due to a law called TABOR in CO. Most taxpayers will get a $800 per person tax credit this year, it changes some years. Some years it's 0. Families with kids win the lottery if they get EITC this year.

I pay a LOT in taxes every paycheck being single, but I usually get a good amount back.
