My Orange Coast Chopper Build

Ghost,

Yep, a tensioner of some sort to give the chain its' variance of length.
On a reaL hard bounce I can get the 650lb. spring to compress about 1.125".
Average is about 1/2"-3/4" which feels like much more. I also made a heat treated curved seat post that springs about 3/8"-1/2". The bike feels like a Cadillac. I have a 53" wheelbase, a 38" neck height, a prospective 48" grip height (with 12" rise ape hangers), all with a 30" seat height. I sit on the bike at full pedal distance away from the seat with my knee slightly bent. I turn both pedals forward like road pegs and I am completely "aped" going down the road.
I am welding the Jesse James tank shut with the borrowed filler neck and cap from the supplied kit tank this weekend, and attaching the expansion chamber muffler. After that, I am not far away from kicking this thing to life.
I need to find a good chain shortening tool.
Which do you guys recommend?

Thanks, man...

I'm not really sure. I loaned out my angle finder, and it hasn't returned.
Steering Angle was a HUGE concern for me. That is why I liked the WCC front frame and how it handled before I back-halved it. The OCC steering angle is much too raked for me. The front wheel wants to fall sideways without constant control at the grips. I put the chain on and pedaled my chopper the other day to see how it rolled after I got it back together. The bike handles exceptionally well and turns on a dime with great control. It doesn't even feel like I have an extended chopper fork. The Jesse James frame makes it up by giving it a big Rise , while the Stingray has a low Rise but much more Rake.
I wanted a bike that had a balance between a really cool stance and awesome handling and I believe I have got it.

Sorry there hasn't been updated photos lately. My laptop got stuck in that "Reboot Loop"....."We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows failed to start properly..." That is where all my photos from my camera phone are. I hope I can get it to boot as I have not backed up all my photos and research. Soon as I can figure out how to fix it, I'll get some pics posted.

I have the motor mounted , the Jesse James Tank converted, and the expansion chamber muffler installed. I am waiting on the front and rear disc brakes to get here via UPS. I am having Rotor Adapters made to fit on Stingray Wheels. I want as much Stop as I do Go....

After that, it's slap the chains on and gas her up, I'm going for a ride! =-]'

Steering head angle is a interest of mine. When you get the angle finder back I look forward to knowing:cool:
I ride Motorcycles and have a number of great books on MC chassis design.
My build will for a bit of off road riding. 160cc 2-stroke lawnmower engine with a little work. Chain Reduction drive to get the 5000rpm down to about 625rpm for the rear wheel. I have posted a thread here about clutch's. I am also going to build a set of Leading Links for the front. They will use a 80mm Marzocchi forks as the suspension. I will post a thread as I build.

Happy New Year!

Been awhile since I posted my progress on the bike. I survived the holidays and even got alot further on the build. So, I'm gonna up alot of photos at once. I have all 3 chains on and the pedal ride is poetic. Laid back like a stretched cruiser, handles like a bmx. I have the expansion chamber exhaust with the muffler coming off the rear wheel. I added 14" apes, The bike has 5 speeds with a grip shifter. The tank is all sealed and ready for smoothing.

And my favorite part, the front and rear 160mm disk brakes adapted to the Stingray wheels. Thanks Jim, can't thank you enough. So I'm down to the tidying and finishing with cables with a few add-ons.

Here's all the shots so far.

Hey,
Just thought I'd drop a note.

I am going to be offering up some cool stuff very soon for the
Stingray Chopper Camp.

One will be these Disc Bake Adaptors for Stingray Front & Rear Wheels. Another will be a very cool dual independent /unison brake lever. And then also something no one else has ever offered before. A Billet Aluminum Clamshell Isolated Motor Mount / Built In Jack Shaft Kit For Stingrays. The kit will have a 5 speed freewheel, derailer, grip shifter, dual independent brake lever, and disk brakes. Just as important for going down the road is STOPPING. And having good stopping power is very important especially when you add 5 speeds, oh and an expansion chamber exhaust. They will be offered as well.

I'd like to get some feedback on this....maybe I'll start a new thread.
