right size fuel line

what size fuel line do i need for a Sintered bronze fuel filter i order some 3/16th and i only can get it on over the first part of the filter where its thickest ,`its that right size fuel line or any tips on getting it fulling on the filter.

depending on what it's made of, you may be able to get it on after dipping it in boiling water to soften it a bit
