This one I have experience with, I tried a different one and it craps out past 3500rpm or so.

I love the ground wire.

I would bet that tach is more for a 2 smoke and its reading the 4 stroke every stroke instead of every other. I got this one and it has options and reads the 4 stroke pretty good well at least its reading what I believe is right

All these have pulse per rev settings, but some of the cheaper ones have poor noise suppression.

I used to use that one, but the battery went dead and couldn't be changed. Now I have one the battery can be changed in.

Now that really has to suck, non-replaceable or rechargable batteries in an item that you would expect to be able to have renewable power available for to it.
