introducing myself

Hi im from ni uk
i,ve joined to try and help my son identify the engine fitted to a phillips bike circa 1940? somebody has semi dismantled the 2 stroke engine and he cannot find any markings on it he describes the drive as bell shaped with small ball bearings and springs chain drive to large rear sprocket engine clamped to frame just above pedals tank suspended from crossbar as yet i dont have a photo as he doesn,t have internet .::
