Stock Huasheng 142F intake manifold plastic spacer - what is it for?

There is a plastic spacer with the stock Huasheng 142F kit that fits between the intake on the engine and the carburetor . What the heck is this thing for?? And is it necessary?

There is a plastic spacer with the stock Huasheng 142F kit that fits between the intake on the engine and the carburetor . What the heck is this thing for?? And is it necessary?

It's actually fenolic or should be as plastic would just melt,And it's an isolator to help keep the heat down and away from the intake and carb.
