Walmart frames (other than roadmaster) are fairly strong. Everything else is junk, especially the wheels. The Electra Townie is a good bike to motorize, and so is the Worksman. Both are fairly expensive. I've bought my bikes off Craigslist. Yes there is a possibility you might wind up with a stolen bike, and that would be unfortunate. But, unlike cars and motorcycles, bicycles do not have VIN numbers, and since they do not have to be registered (at least here) there is really no chance the cops are going to show up at your door. I would not buy a bike if I had any reason to believe it might be stolen. A cheap price on an expensive bike in great condition is a tip off. Steve, I would definitely replace that Chinese chain tensioner with something better.
