Cent. Clutch to torque converter?

I'm thinking about switching from centrifugal&chain to a torque converter for my Phatmoto but all the kits look like the back shaft would be too short to line up with my back sprocket. Does anyone know of a kit that might work for my 80cc setup? It has 5/8 bore. Always great info here. Thanks.

It's hard to tell from the picture, it could just be because it's from about one sprocket.

Having a phatmoto myself, it sure looks bent or the rear wheel is seriously misaligned. Those chains should be parallel with each other at all times.... Pix can be deceiving tho

Simplest solution to the shaft being too short. Get a longer shaft and cut to the size you need. Ideal? No, but simple.

I figured it would be easier with the sideways adjustable mount to align the chain. Sure it might cost a lite more than a shaft, but it would keep the shaft more supported.

Is it an optical illusion, or is your jackshaft bent? It looks like the chains are not parallel, and they should be.

It's lined up now. I was in the process of adjusting

1) Are you a large person?
2) Do you have steep hills to contend with?


If you answered NO to both questions, then the answer is keep the clutch. If you answered YES to either or both questions, then install the CVT

Optical illusion. All chains are running really smooth. No alignment issues. Must be the angle.

With something like a 3\1 cvt your current reduction will start out 3 times lower than what it is now. For example: 16\1×3= 48\1. Then it'll automatically reduce the reduction total as you speed up. If you encounter a steep hill and begin to slow down the reduction will increase thus increasing the torque allowing you to climb the hill.

You should take a second look at that mount plate I suggest. It's a fully adjustable bolt on plate, you can move it sideways so the chain lines up.
