I usually just use 1st, 3rd and 5th, if I am going to cruise for a long distance I will shift into 6th kinda like an overdrive.

Here's my Trek. I'm looking forward to Spring, when I can really put it through it's paces.

No. It mounts to the brake mount hole which I don't use because my brakes are down under, I know there are brackets made for seat attachment though. It's a standard rack, which I can't remember the name of...I'll check if you like.

no need thanks, i'm kind of looking for one that will mount to my seat CLAMP not a post mount.

I'm sorry, I just felt that bike deserves its own thread and I am very interested in the ways people are using the shifter kit.
You could hook us up with some more pics of that bike though and a thread about it would be way cool.
I love seeing all the different bikes everyone has done.

Dang that brought back a flood of great memories!!

The primary purpose of the Shift Kit is not top speed. It could be argued that it's more about low end grunt and taking off faster.

In reality, the Shift Kit can be used to acheive both, and that's the beauty of using appropriate ratios for the engine, load, speed, etc...
