If I would have known more about these engines before I bought mine I would have bought the new Phantom. Seems like they finally fixed things for the most part. Saw videos about the first 2 versions where people loved the power and than they all died shortly after

Yeah, v1 had bushings for the wrist pin bearing, v2 had issues with port snag(which could be fixed by camfering the ports and a tigeter fitting piston. Impulserocket has a V2 he dis this to and it still runs.) V3 they fixed everything, the only issue is it runs hot, but not a big deal if you don't hot rod it.

Maybe next winter I'll be bored and building a phantom 85 bike will be a good project. I'll just use this next riding season to test out the local authorities and see if they leave me alone first

Very time-consuming indeed. Once you get a hang of it it's not too hard.

I've done it before, more forgiving than oxy fuel welding but obviously not as strong.
