What causes: intermittent high revving

It's funny cause I can shut engine off & restart it & it wont act up for 6months or longer, but there could be something floating around in carb. It's the second time it's been mentioned. Plus will be a good time to pop cylinder head off & check things in there.
If the plug is fine, no reason to pull head.

I know a few wantabe loggers, but know nothing of the equipment.
I tune quite a few saws in the fall. With firewood cutting and fruit tree pruning, there's lots of tuning.
No logger here but I sure cut my fair share of firewood, now that I got a bandsaw alot of firewood has been turning into some nice lumber, got quite a bit kiln drying now.

I don't cut any fruit wood, other than cherry. There is so much of that, I'd have a stock pile for 1000 years. I use mostly hickory and alder for my smoker.
Lots of orchard owners have little baby saws for pruning, 017s ms170 and smaller.
