Chain drive vs belt drive

What is the best way to clean your motor chain? Also what is the best lube for the chain?

Sprockets and gears are both cogs. A gear is a cog that meshes with another toothed cog. A sprocket is a cog that drives or is driven by a chain or belt.
Bicycle cog? Doesn't sound right. Alternator sprocket? Doesn't sound right. Not saying anything is wrong technically, just doesn't sound right. Bicycle sprocket, alternator pulley sounds right.

Just because it doesn't sound right to you doesn't make it incorrect.

Second, a pulley is not a cog. So alternator pulley is correct.

Hrmm. A wheel with projections... like
A sprocket or a gear...

If the belt drive uses a toothed wheel and toothed belt, it is a cog. Often called a pulley out of convenience or laziness, but is actually a cog, and more accurately a sprocket by the proper definition.

What is the correct chain lube?
The correct one is the white lithium grease, comes in a spray can. But it always come out to fast to do a good job on the chain. You only need a light coating, or else you'll coat a whole bunch of stuff with it. I like a 50/50 blend of straight 30w and full synthetic 2t oil in an oil pumper.
