Finally pulled the trigger!

I'd definitely love to hear how the install goes for you with the Mitsubishi kit. You made a good point I think, about not having to change the oil in the 2 stroke motors. Plus having more power. You may have just swayed me the other way now. :)
Have you heard anything about the reliability of this motor, or what kind of life it can expect compared to a 4 stroke?
Again, hope that you're able to install your kit tonight. I'm anxious to hear. :)

I think the reliability is as good as the 4 strokes. Less moving parts. I've read that for long distance rides, the 2 strokes are better. They are designed to be run full throttle for extended periods of time. The ONLY reason that I could think of to go 4 stroke would be that they might be a little quieter, but the Mitsu is supposed to be VERY quiet - from what I've read at cruising speed it's even quieter than the 4 strokes. I'm sure others with real-life experience with these will chime-in with other responses.

i heard the 4 strokes are more reliable, and better for long distance. this is just what i have read, i do not know 1st hand.

Okay folks....stayed up late last night and got my kit installed. I worked a little bit more today to start "project cammo" with good results so far. I stopped on the way home last night and bought what I think will be perfect bags for the bike. I made a bracket myself to position the bag where it will cover the entire street side (in the US, anyway! Haha!) of the engine and most of the drive chain. You can see looking at the photo of the back of the bag it just has 2 hooks that it hangs from the 1/2" threaded rod that I used. I'm going to do more work to secure the bottom of the bag better. I posted a LOT of photos below. Ride impressions? Wow! Fun! Faster than I thought. I think cruising at 25 or possibly 30 is about it for me. No need to go faster, although I'm sure my bike will go faster. I got it up to 31 mph (see speedo photo) and it had a LOT left and it's not broken in yet. The bike will fly if you want it to. The next part of my project will be making a bracket on the curb (right) side of the bike that will allow the right side bag to mount AND protect the engine in the event that the bike tips over. I'm very pleased with my build results so far. I cruised around the neighborhood a bit, and ran up to the gas station and bought a gallon of milk to test my bag out - worked great! The owner of the gas station came out to check out the bike. Pretty cool stuff. Check out the photos below.....my new seat, pedals, and bar-end mirror will come in on Monday which will spruce up the look and the ride. OH, and as far as the Mitsu being a quiet engine, it IS....NICE! Not annoying at all. I would venture to guess that people driving with their windows up probably won't even hear it.

The sigma computer or the kit? Hehehe. There is a little bit to the kit....the computer is a piece of cake - 5 minutes. The kit is not bad, but only because there are enough customer bikes photographed on the Staton website so you can figure out what they are talking about. I'll have a video soon.....kid shot one with his camera.....

Looks great!
And the video was impressive, I think. Does the motor seem that loud in person as it does on the video? I know you said it was quiet, just double checking I guess.
Thanks, and congratulations on your build.

Today my staton friction EHO35 kit arrived!

I unboxed it and everything looks great. Looks like a high quality kit and engine (except the twist throttle which seems a little cheesy)

Im working like 30 hours a day so I dont know when I'll have time to play with it. Im still waiting on misc parts anyway. I am also pleased at the small amount of hardware it came with ... not very intimidating. :D

OMG i have to get back to work!

You are going to have a blast with it.
