Unscrew the carb cap. pull out the slide it has a slit in it for the throttle cable

I'm just seeing a spring. Am I missing a piece?

The slide is still in the barrel of the carb. It's that black thing in there

In the picture Damien posted there is a slot doen the side of the slide. The cabel gets hooked into that slot

dont forget that the cable goes inside the spring, than peel back the spring while snaking the cable into its receptacle at the end of the slot...Also in your pics, I did not see the washer that goes on the inside of the slide barrel where the spring goes in on top of the washer.
