I Want To Reach And Maintain 40MPH..I Am So Close!

Hey 5-7Heaven, you say that you are always wearing a rain-coat which I assume means it is always raining. From what I understand, rain and friction-drive engines don't go together very well. I think the rain kind of kills the friction a little bit. In a rainy area - you might be better off with a chain-driven engine. I know, it's not the simplest thing, or affordable, to just switch over to a different engine. But it is something to consider.

I always wear a raincoat riding to and from work. Drivers notice me; it's not raining and why is this bicyclist wearing a raincoat?:giggle:

Besides, if it rains I'd be soaked before stopping and putting the coat on.

Yeah, friction drive sucks in the rain but it still works better than pedalling in the rain. I had Staton chain drive on my Dahon 21-speed and a Raleigh 7-speed bike. The Staton rear hub is too wide for my cruiser frame so I run friction drive.

One day I'll try to install a Titan chain drive on "The Dragon Lady". I have the drive assembly on the shelf somewhere.
