I have the big Staton 50 friction drive which I am happy with, it will suit my purposes for the time being. I love Staton products but I don't care for the support, emails go ignored.

It didnt come with a shut off switch, which I thought it would as a "complete kit", if I would have known I would have ordered it and not have to pay extra shipping. Question 1: Is there an easy auto parts store option for kill switch?

2nd: At some point I will want to convert this engine to an inside drive

Staton isnt interested in answering my questions on if this is possible and what I would need to order so has anyone done this and is it as easy as ordering the inside drive gear box sprocket and chain?

Question 2:How interchangeable are the inside drive and friction drive setups?

Any flip switch will work from an auto parts store the only problem Ive found is how to mount it where it doesnt look like a band aid job. Push pull switch etc.............

Yea i know, but the contacts are on the bottom/opposite of the switch which makes a handlebar mount difficult without extra hardware. Im looking for a switch I can mount with say a hose clamp directly on the bars.

I dont see any pics on Statons site.

The inside and outside drive are the same box with the exception of where the output shaft exits the case. The installations, however, are quite different as the inside drive box is offset to the left of center by several inches. This offset requires the fabrication of your mounts, that's bad but Staton has pictures of how others have done it, that's good. Better be familiar with the operation of a hack saw if you choose this method.

If David doesn't email you back, call him.

Yea but my question is.... can I use what I have with the friction drive kit? If so what can I use? Can I use my engine, clutch etc? and just order a gear drive kit from Staton?

Would I have to order a whole new engine and drive set up from Staton? Or can I convert?

I believe you can, your friction drive should already have the adapter clutch ring and should fit the gear box.
