A motorized bicycle is classed as a moped by South Carolina state law. A moped is any bike featuring:
  • 2 or 3 wheels.
  • An engine less than 50cc.
  • No clutching or shifting.
License

A valid Class 1 license is required to ride a motorized bicycle in South Dakota.

Registration

To ride a motorized bicycle legally in South Dakota you will need to register it and title it just like a moped. Insurance is also required.
