CDIs scarcely break - unless water damaged. If there is a loss in power when the engine heats up it will most likely be the cdi (will start up again when engine is cooler). Before replacing a cdi make sure you turn the spark plug cable clockwise tightly into the cdi - they tend to loosen over time and cause bad ignition.
