crankcase sealer?

Amen to the v-dub engines, back in the 80's if i had a dollar for everyone I rebuilt i'd be a hundredaire. Those cases had a wider contact area, and we used permatex aviation sealer.I removed the base gasket on my HT 2 weeks after I bought it in 2007. Sealed it with GM red anerobic sealer other than had to dremmel the outer edge of the combustion chamber so the piston would't hit the head. It makes sense that if these engines come with a crankcase gasket and you remove you have to compensate for about .020 of an inch to get the correct crank end play and/or preload on the main bearings.
