I rode my freshly rebuilt Raleigh Folding 20 with a Honda GX35 engine, with jackshaft and 5 gears to the Great Peninsula Future Festival in Port Gamble, WA this morning and got 172 miles per gallon. I weigh around 200 lbs and the route was gently rolling with a few sizable/steep hills. I topped off my GX's stock tank this morning before leaving, rode the 20.4 mile round trip distance (according to Google maps), and refilled to the original tank level with only 15 ounces of gas. I motored the whole way, with some pedal assist at times. With no speedometer I'd estimate I was cruising at 30 mpg on level ground. What a quiet engine! Saw some interesting electric bikes at the show. One Canadian company is coming out with a 500 watt electric motor soon that'll propel a normal bike to over 40 mph. Interesting.
