I should be properly firewalled away from Kijiji, Fleabay, OMGmazon, etc.. This happened to catch my eye in the past 48 hours.

Initially, i thought it was the Terratrike Path - in further research, it's a Terratrike Tour 2. Color is the same, but this one has better components on it, as well as a multispeed crank. It appears that i got a screaming deal, based on the price i paid.. the thing is next to new.

Not even finished current project, behind on several others, and i just have to get that... urge. Again.

Like a Kitty that just catches your eye at the Shelter (i got 4 now..) you always got enough room, for just one more. To get room for just one more, this is going to need to be stored vertical, when in storage.. but that's tomorrow's project..

Anyway, it hopped on the Truck, and came on back home with me.

I've spent a few hours already, looking at various existing recumbent, or reverse tadpole trike e-bike setups.. as well as mods. This thing could turn into a fabrication tinkerer's dream project. One way or another, it's getting Juiced.

Using this as a primary builder's thread, i am going to reserve this post with a needs/wants/options post to keep track of it all, going into it.

Some of this will make no sense at all to others - it's an aggregation of ideas in my planning process, only.

these are expensive. hopefully you got a good price on it. ive seen bafang middrive motors on these. check it out to see if it fits and works. the bbshd version with a 72v battery will take u to probably 50 in that aero form. also, get flags and high visibility signs, the low profile and wider frame width puts you in a more vulnerable position on the road. good luck hope to see a nice build from this.

These ones were expensive - not the cheaper Path model, that i originally thought it to be. I almost feel bad for the price i paid for it, almost..

I've already done a BBSHD build on a pure e-bike, and i'm currently experimenting with a Tongsheng TSDZ2 on the current hybrid e/gas build being wrapped up.

Having done two e-builds, now.. i'm ready to step it up a bit. Perhaps more of a custom setup involving a rear frame-tube mounted motor/controller setup, connected via Gates Belt Drive to a freewheel rear end... Youtube is very dangerous to me, for design inspirations..

Boom-mounted mid-drive motors don't inspire the greatest in confidence with me, given the amount of chain involved (and potential weak links) with such a torquey motor (esp. the BBSHD).

The Tour 2 ain't this, but i'm certainly getting some inspiration from this.

That "torquey" mid mount motor doesn't have sh*t for torque compared to your legs.

I've got hip replacements... my woodruff keys' for my hips sheared a long time ago.. so unfortunately, not these legs.

BBSHD has something in torque in region of 90 n/m. TSDZ2 around 60n/m.

I'm just bored as f**k today, had to put a Forrest Gump reference somewhere 😄. Anyways I'm diggin' that tadpole! My friend wants to build one so bad except with a gas engine. But I like those electric ones.
