Chain Tensioner Anyone have experience with spring chain tensioner starting problems?

Ke I have a spring loaded tensioner from Dax. When I let go of the clutch to start the
bke it stretches the spring on the tensioner to the max and occasionally jams up on the front drive gear causing me to get off and rock it to free the chain. The pressure on the chain to overcome the compression of starting the engine really wreaks havoc on the chain after getting jammed up every 5th time. Any ideas would be appreciated.

you might try putting in a half-link to reduce the amount of slack available to shift to the top of the chain run, or maybe add a second spring, but this is just another reason to avoid spring loaded tensioners
