Seen what BRP has been doing with two strokes?
Evinrude, Ski-Doo, Can Am and Rotax are their brands.
E-Tech is their jewel, it was an Evinrude innovation.
Its also available on some Ski-Doos.
Its Mercury Marine's nightmare, and the other snowmobile companies as well.
It is a computer controlled system with fuel cooled direct injection solenoids.
Automation includes:-
Break- in ( via extra oil and reduced revs )
Winterisation ( via a shut down option )
Oil ratio is adjusted dependent on load.
Direct oiling of bearings, no premix.
Instant starting, with no smoke.
Emissions less than other recreational 4 strokes.
300hr or 3 year maintenance intervals.
I’m no BRP fanboy, I am just amazed by what is possible.
I am however a 2 stroke enthusiast. A long time outboard user, from 6 to 175 hp.
This sort of technology will keep 2-strokes alive. They are light, and with no cam train, double the power strokes and a weight advantage; will keep the 2 stroke sound around for a while.
