Centrifugal clutch questions

I had the same problem and found a way to get it to work.
I am working with a 31cc ryobi trimmer motor with the same clutch drum.
What I did was cut off the square end of the clutch drum past the fillet.
I removed the screw and washer that were inside.
What you are left with is the clutch drum with a bore that is approximately 5/16".
All you do now is drill and tap the hole for 3/8-24 and you're all set!

I did the drilling and tapping process on a lathe to center the hole perfectly
in the clutch drum. You may have to do the same to get it straight.
I havent put it together on the bike but it runs really true.
