Does reed valve carb give performance

Hi I bought the reed valve carb gt80, havent recieved in mail yet, was wondering what kind of performance does it give(speed, power, or what not. Thanks

More lower end power and a bit of a drop in speed (reed valve is a restriction point regardless how you look at it) and if you want any benefit you'll need to open one side of your piston skirt, and for the most power you'll want to put a boost port in the cylinder wall.

You'll need to jet higher almost definitely, so if you don't have a suitable range of jets be prepared to buy some to retune the bike after the new modifications.

Thanks I dont want the reed valve now if I lose speed and have to do all that other stuff, so can I take the reed valve part off the gt80 carb and just use the carb.
