Is it normal?

I am just about halfway through my first gallon of gas, and I went over things. I noticed the head nuts seemed loose? I retorqued them.

Also I thought it was weird, but in the bag, with the head gasket, acorn nuts and washers were lock washers that could only fit the head studs. I thought it was weird to see lock washers, for the head, but since they were there I used a flat and a lock under each acorn nut; should I have?

Come to think of it, my kit came with one thing in abundance, lock washers, There were actually two extras head washers and lock washers.

This is completely normal. You need to re torque the head bolts after every heat cycle during break in. Some people use the lock washers, some don't. I personally don't because they didn't come with them

The head needs to be retorqued every single heat cycle and must be done only when completely cold for the first 200 miles or so until fully seated.

Well the BT80 came with wide head bolts and no lock washers. I don't remember if it had regular washers either.
