My Zbox 48cc HT Build!

Not sure about the pile of washers option on the back mount.
Just don't look right when you consider engine twist/torque, is on those thin bolts and not being supported by the bulk of the mounting alloy block.
Keep options open to have the plate on the front down tube and drill a hole method, unfortunately.
Was you supplied with a thin plate or a thick plate,
(the one with 3 holes in the kit) ?

The extra gasket is probably there to space the clutch cover a bit more from the clutch's star adjust nut.
I have to use 3 gaskets, cos the inside of the cover is marked when the engine revs.
I guess it was cheaper to use less alloy and add more gaskets for correct clearance between the clutch adjust nut and the inside of the cover.

The washers are only for working out spacing. I will (if I proceed with this frame) work out something more solid.

Theres a few problems with this frame:

* brakes (or lack there of)
* potential fatigue due to my cold setting
* crank clearance

The fatigue is prbably not a problem, as it was only a small amount I cold set it by,

The brakes however, could be an issue. MTB brakes dont reach the rim, when using this fork, and all the mtb forks are too short in the stem, so my options are limited.

Crank clearance. I can probably shave the cranks slightly, taking a few mm off them, giving enough clearance.

I'm still looking for a more suitable frame, but in the mean time, if this works out, then it'll do!

I do like the shape of those bars though! :)

Ok, scrap that idea. Literally.

I looked closely at the yellow frame, noticed a nice little crack in the rear triangle, where it meets the seat post. Scrap metal. Probably more trouble that it was worth anyway.

Then, I checked out http://www.gumnut.com.au a local classifieds, and found this little gem.

$35 later and it was mine! Has shimano vee brakes, serfas superslick tyres that are almost new, alexrims dps18 wheels. Now the bad. One crank arm has come off. Now, when I looked at it, nothing is broken. the bolt has simply come out! I need a slim 15mm socket to be able to do it back up, as none of my sockets fit, as they are too fat! I'm thinking a tube socket might do the trick, will get one tomorrow!

I've test fitted the motor, and she fits nicely, and with some slight persuasion to the frame, I'll be able to use traditional mounting methods for the engine!

I'mm start building tomorrow. Debating wethe I should paint the bike before the build, however, I think the crappy paint adds to the charm!

Kool,
I got one of those to, yellow and paid $30, same "class"-
I'm debating if I should paint it, but I think a once over with wet&dry or steel wool and see how it turns up.

Anyway, check to see if the rear wheel runs true before you bolt up the rear drive sprocket.
Had trouble on one of mine lining it up to tighten up as straight as possible on a slightly untrue wheel.

I'll look at that, if there is any problems, I'll just use one of my other wheels, I have enough of them here now!

Another question, did your bike have one black, one silver crank? mine does...

yah strip it of all it's paint and then clear coat it so it's all shiny metal :D

oh, this bike could become something truely fantastic :S

aaaarghhh!!!!

OK, now there really is something conspiring against me.

I fixed the bike, the replacement crank arm is on and works fine. However. I found that there isnt much clearnance between engine and arm. Time will tell i guess if this is a problem.

I thought I would start by bolting up the sprocket on the rear wheel, only to find that the bolts for the sprocket are missing! I checked every box! They are not there!

I have emailed zbox and await their response. Just when I thought I was going to make some progress!

are you sure ? :(

they are8 or 9 bolts with screws and stuff all the same size.

you could just go down to bunnings and get some nice ones straight off the bat ?

i had a clearance problem with the exhaust pipe, i bent the exhaust slightly and filed down the left crank 1mm :)
