update on progress

so for all those who have been checking up on my build i started with huffy cranbrook and although it was great to start with, i quickly went off in my own direction with a skyhawk gt2a frame like you may have seen in the last post. but in the last 3 months i have put alot of work into this thing and for someone who just discovered the hobby, i jumped in head first so to speak. i decided to add to 6 volt 7 amp batteries to power my turn signals and my headlight at taillight. it took some time to get the turn signals working mainly because i bought a trunk to store all my electrical components that had some fake tail lights in it and i added bulbs to make them functional. i also added an alarm with an fm radio and mp3 function. as of today i am installing a digital tachometer/speedometer with all indicators for temp, fuel gauge, time odometer(everything you would have in a gauge cluster in your car) ive had her out twice this seasson within the last 2 days and other than some chain alignment issues, shes runnin like a champ

liamo i will try to help you out on here but i have tried to explain on these forums befor and either i dont explain it well. or the other just lacked the knowledge to complete the task. i have taken the time today to draw something up on my computer i hope this helps. the only other thing i can say is if there is some way for u to video call me i can talk u thru the process. and show you in complete detail.

Nifty looking bike, and some cool electrical work, but you couldn't pay me enough to just ride it around the block.
And it's all because of the front fork you choose.

Seriously man, this is one dangerously poor front fork decision.

SpringerForkFlaw.jpg

Those forks are made for bicycle use and fail at just that right where the tube is squashed in and drilled at the bend.
I cringe when I see one and think they are the worst design in the history of bicycles.

And besides that, it has no front brake!

You have 66cc with an expansion chamber and relying on just a frigg'n coaster brake and a front end that could collapse with the smallest of hit.

As the Robot on 'Lost in Space' used to say...
'DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!'

Please, consider a real front fork with a good brake.

i know there garbage

i plan on changing the front fork and i just ordered my front brake. those fork i got for basically nothing when i traded a guy my cranbrook frame for the forks when he had yet to get them in the mail. im using em for now cause she is my only form of transportation at the moment. but ass soon as i have the couple hundred bucks im gonna get some triple tree straight forks. ive gotten great deals so far the engine and frame being the most expensive. even the frame i got at a steal for 100 bucks. but i feel u these forks just feel weird when im on the road and the front spring is kinda unpredictable. it wants to push in on turns. so i guess for now im not gonna put her to her full potential and i have to take turns kinda slow. but i get ur point. and appreciate ur concern. and the forks will be changed within the next few months

Good to hear josey, we'd sure hate to see you get hurt.

Note about triple trees...
Your top baer is a gas tank, triple trees are inevitably going to dent it on both sides and they have poor brake options as well.

You might want to consider motorcycle style front shock forks.
The ones I put on my GT2 have disc and V-brake bosses and were only $80 new at my local bike shop.

I went with front and rear V's on that build but if you can swing the extra cost a disc would be nice to off-set the coaster in the rear.

Just trying to help and that is a clever electrical system, nice work ;-}

glad to know that u care kc. lol

and speaking of my electrical system. thanks for the comments. im trying to make a harness that i can remake and sell to the masses to at have turn signals, headlight, tail light, and break light with the flasher relay and all switches. i running seald lead acid batteries now but im going to do some testing with lipo batteries and compare the results as far as running time and things like that, not to mention that lipo batteries will greatly reduce the weight.

unfortunately i took her out for a 4 hour ride the other day, it was 60 degrees here in ohio, and found a few problems with my harness as it sits. nothing major, but i think i need a resistor befor my flasher relay because ive already fried 2 flasher units. im gonna try 1 that is american made this time instead of ordering from china like i had before. but my plan is to make it plug and play at least with the skyhawk frames, if not every beach cruiser.

and the name is josh not josey im sure it was prolly a typo, but just to set the record straight
