New to Motorized Bikes!

I have a friend that raced Go-Karts on Dirt Track and did quite well. They have used all sorts of hop up parts, all readily available for the Briggs and Stratton engines. The 1st matter of buisiness for most Go-Kart engines is to remove the governor. With the higher RPM, the flywheel is a big concern. A used flywheel with an unknown history of abuse, could grenade and well... Anyhow there is the option of a brand new factory flywheel, racing flywheel, or a fancy billet flywheel. If you pull many RPM's at all, valve float becomes a big problem and you need upgraded valve springs as well as a carb that will support it. He used a Mikuni. Beyond that, there aren't many performance parts available unless you step up to the 5hp, then there are cams, billet connecting rods, forged pistons, etc.

The mounting holes for the Verticle Shaft engine will likely fail before long due to being a fraction the thickness to the Horizontal Shaft ones. But the Verts are all over the place here and can be had super cheap, if not free. Mine was free.
